Cindy Bernard’s body of work, Location Proposals, examined how our perception of landscape and the built environment is coded by culture. Location Proposal #2 presented a series of rear-screen projections based on the woods sequence in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 classic film, Vertigo. Working from maps, reference photographs and film stills, Bernard used computer modeling to recreate each of the eighteen shots of Hitchcock’s Muir Woods sequence.
