Accessibility

The Schindler House is our headquarters and exhibitions center. The house is accessible by wheelchair. The entire property sits on the ground floor, accessible by a compact dirt driveway from the streetside. The main entry into the house is arrived at through a break in the hedge, with four pavers leading up to the front door. Most wheelchairs will not have an issue rolling over the pavers, but please let us know if you need assistance. The terrain inside and outside the house varies between compact dirt, grass, and concrete, with approximately 1″ lift from one surface to the next.

All areas are accessible by wheelchair. All entries and corridors in the house measure 30″ in width or wider. For doorways that are under 30″, an alternate point of entry and access is always available. Bathrooms are not available for public use. We do not have designated parking areas, but visitors with accessibility needs can use the driveway for passenger loading and unloading.

Photography
& Filming

Personal filming and photography is encouraged at all three of MAK Center’ sites. Visitors are allowed to take informal vacation-style snapshots and nature and architecture photos. Please tag us @makcenter!

Photographs may not be published, sold, reproduced, transferred, distributed, or used commercially in any manner. The use of flash photography is permitted unless otherwise stated. Personal filming and photography must take place during normal public hours and use only hand‐carried equipment. No tripods, monopods, or selfie sticks are permitted.

Additional photographic equipment such as lights, reflectors, props, costumes, models are prohibited, except under permit or commercial contract. No wedding officiants or ceremony’s permitted onsite. Any activity that interferes with the use, operation, or enjoyment of the site can be limited or prohibited by museum staff.  All posed photography, both commercial and non-commercial, require approval in advance.

Special
Event Use

The MAK Center operates three architecturally significant sites by R.M. Schindler, all of which are available for private event use. Due to the sensitive nature of our sites, we are unable to accommodate any weddings and any events larger than 150 persons. Proceeds go directly to supporting MAK Center’s annual calendar of exhibitions and programs.
