The MAK Center for Art and Architecture is initiating a new, invite-only members group for those living in or supporting the preservation of Schindler-designed homes throughout the region.

MAK Center Patrons and Members are invited to the private gathering Sunset at Schindler including a cocktail reception for Seeking Zohn hosted by MAK Center Director Jia Yi Gu, artist Zara Pfeifer and co-curator Mimi Zeiger.
Join us for a viewing of the exhibition with cocktail drinks generously provided by Tepozán Tequila. Following the reception, join Cynthia Vargas and Seeking Zohn co-curator Mimi Zeiger in conversation exploring the translations, triangulations, and displacements that arise between Vienna, Los Angeles, and Guadalajara. Vargas, a curator and researcher whose family is from Guadalajara, will share reflections on Zohn’s architecture and narratives of transnational identity.

Sunset at Schindler is an invite-only event series offered to MAK Center patrons and sponsors, featuring cocktail receptions and access to the Schindler House.

Private Reception for Alex Katz: Sunrise
Join the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, Schindler House, for an exclusive viewing of Alex Katz: Sunrise. The exhibition is the latest iteration by the 95-year-old artist’s ongoing series he refers to as ‘splits’. Using a cut-up technique he blends inspiration from Manet’s pictures of women in hats in the sun, the fractured imagery from early cubism as well as the ‘cheap’ quality in Fassbinder’s ‘Beware of a Holy Whore,’ these large-scale immersive portraits of Sunrise Coigney encapsulate the fleeting nature of the gaze inside everyday life.

VIP Reception for Schindler House: 100 Years in the Making
Centennial Council, MAK Center Patron-level members, and Supporters are invited to the VIP Reception of Schindler House: 100 Years in the Making on May 27, 2022, from 7pm to 9pm. The exhibition celebrating the centennial of the Schindler House will be on view at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture through September 25, 2022.
The event is by invitation only.
The opening reception is made possible with support from MAK Center Centennial Council, Patron Program and the Austrian Consulate General in Los Angeles. The reception is supported by Kunin Wines, with catering from TYSMLA.
