This exhibition presented the work of Dennis Hopper, the visual artist. By focusing on Hopper’s documentation of the artistic avant-garde, including images never before published or displayed, American Pictures offered a rare opportunity to witness the birth of a new aesthetic language and the complex personalities who shaped it.
