Mohamed Bourouissa
Mohamed Bourouissa (1978, Algeria) has had solo exhibitions at Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia (2017), Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2016), Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto (2014), Haus der Kunst, Munich (2014), MAXXI, Rome (2012), amongst others. His work has been shown in group exhibitions worldwide: Studio Museum, New York (2016), Biennal de Lyon (2015), MMK Museum für Modern Kunst, Frankfurt am Main (2015), Prospect New Orleans (2014), the Venice Biennale (2011), to name just a few. In 2018, he will participate in the Liverpool Biennial, a residency at the LUMA Foundation in Arles, and has been nominated for The Marcel Duchamp Prize.
Negar Azimi
Negar Azimi is senior editor at Bidoun, an arts and culture magazine based in New York. In addition to her work with Bidoun, Azimi has written for Artforum, frieze, Harper’s, The New Yorker, and the New York Times Magazine, among other publications. She is a member of the Beirut-based Fondation Arabe pour l’Image.
This program was a part of Public Fiction’s The Conscientious Objector, a multifaceted endeavor that unfurled in parts from February to April 2018. The Conscientious Objector comprised a publication, a series of artist-made commercials for television (of which Mohamed was a contributor), an exhibition of artworks activated by a performance, and public programs.
