This exhibition presented the work of Dennis Hopper, the visual artist. By focusing on Hopper’s documentation of the artistic avant-garde, including images never before published or displayed, American Pictures offered a rare opportunity to witness the birth of a new aesthetic language and the complex personalities who shaped it.
The Seductive Sixties, June 2, 2000. Dennis Hopper revisited his 1960s art world experience with UCLA professor of art Henry Hopkins, who has been active since the ‘60s as a gallerist, critic, author, curator and museum director, including positions at the Fort Worth Art Center Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Arm and Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center.
Outdoor Film Screenings, July 13 – July 15, 2000. Screening of three films written and directed by Hopper, including, The Last Movie (1971), Out of the Blue (1980), and Colors (1988).
